Description
This is an exploration of a horse's form and a pose not often seen in photographs. I enjoy challenging the classic portrait and looking for ways to present horses in a different way. I also love the textures of the horse's hair, long and fluffy winter coat on his legs and face, but clipped nice and short on the neck and body. This photo was taken against a black background, with an off camera flash positioned directly in front of the horse, angled down slightly to allow the light to fall softly onto the horse's neck and shoulder. A fast shutter speed ensured that anything not lit by the flash disappeared into the shadow.
