Description
I found this small group of wrinkled peach mushrooms growing on an old fallen elm tree. I could just about aim the camera up enough from the ground to get a composition where I was looking head on with the front mushroom, with the other two poking out either side, behind it. I used a flash and diffuser to ensure the scene was evenly lit with soft light and I also used focus stacking to get more of the scene in crisp focus. I actually captured enough frames so that all three mushrooms were completely in focus but when merging these photos together, I felt it flattened the image too much. Instead I limited it to 78 images so there was more of a gradual focus falloff on the two surrounding wrinkled peaches. This helped keep some depth to the shot by making the central mushroom the main focus and I also felt it looked more natural looking to the eye. F8, 1/50th, ISO 200
