This year the shortlist will include work from 320 photographers and comprise the judge's favourite imagery. This shortlist will get very high circulation and exposure, as well as being a platform for a public vote that reaches millions of people. After second round judging is complete (as per our schedule page), we combine the judges choices with those of the public vote to decide who gets invited for the black tie gala.
The top photographers from each category are invited to attend the The British Photography Awards at London's Savoy Hotel on the 4th of February 2020. This will include champagne reception, press photographs, banquet-style dinner and entertainment etc. For more information on our event, please view our 'Event' tab. One photographer will win each Category Prize, the other photographers will be named runners up. BPA2019 reached an audience potential of over 840 million people worldwide.
As we operate our competition cash flow on a non-profit basis, nobody at the BPA can profit off this revenue. We are in discussions with HMRC to ensure that the tax exposure on charitable giving is minimised, and are fully registered with The Fundraising Regulator to conform fully with UK fundraising and competition law.
