The top four photographers from each category are invited to attend the The British Photography Awards at London's Savoy Hotel on the 28th of January 2019. This will include drinks reception, dinner and entertainment – as well as some goodies from our sponsors. One photographer will win each Category Prize, the other three photographers will be runners up.
As we operate our competition cashflow on a non-profit basis, the more people that enter the competition, the higher the prizes go. 50% of our cash gets awarded to charity, the other half goes into prizes tax and card processing. Nobody at the BPA can profit off this revenue.
This means that at the end of the cycle there will a prize pot divided equally between the category winners. This year it is not a fixed sum, and has no upper limit. This cash prize will be paid in a fixed instalment via bank transfer.
Separate permissions will be sought for any book publishing or gallery showing of the artist's work, which may follow the awards night itself – but this should be considered as a potential boon for entering and supporting charity with your photography.
