Shaped by Tradition In Cappadocia, Turkey, the ancient craft of terracotta pottery is traditionally passed from father to son, preserving skills learned and refined over generations. I photographed this craftsman in his workshop as shafts of sunlight pierced the smoky air, illuminating his face, hands and the vessel he was holding. Surrounded by the objects of his trade, he seemed inseparable from the craft itself — a tradition shaped by hand and handed down through generations.
