Description
I was thrilled to stumbled upon this scene on a photowalk in London. The way the sun was setting between two buildings near St Pauls meant a shaft of light was cast onto the monument, perfectly lighting up this person as they sat having an afternoon snack. I watched as they dropped a small crumb for a pigeon and then looked down as it pecked at it and this small moment of someone enjoying this interaction really stood out to me. By exposing for the bright highlight in the middle of the frame, I was able to make everything else fall into deep shadows that really emphasises the central subject.
