Description
Getting to the island of Oronsay depends on the tide. The expanse of sand called "The Strand" between it and Colonsay is passable only at low tide, when visitors, locals and even the local postman all take the opportunity to walk or drive over. We did it on a falling tide and we had to wade for part of the crossing. Strands of seaweed swept by our feet in the water, creating beautiful abstract patterns which I photographed handheld from above. However I had to make the choice between casting a shadow on my subject or getting my reflection caught in the bubbles, and I chose the latter.
