Description
A rare Philippine Tarsier peers through a vibrant canopy of dense foliage, nestled within a lush, green world inside the protected rainforest of the Bohol Tarsier Sanctuary in Corella. Working carefully under the guidance of local conservation staff to ensure an ethical approach, this eye-level portrait of one of the world's smallest and most elusive nocturnal primates required extreme patience. Shot from a discreet vantage point between rain showers, the shallow depth of field utilises the undergrowth as a natural frame, drawing the eye directly into the primate’s disproportionately enormous eyes. Evolved specifically for night-time hunting, these glassy amber eyes reflect a striking mixture of evolutionary perfection and deep vulnerability. The composition serves as both a portrait and a poignant reminder of what is at stake: a species uniquely adapted to its surroundings, yet increasingly confined to shrinking pockets of forest within a vanishing habitat.
