Description
Held Between explores the duality of feminine identity through the subtle tension between light and dark. Thais’s pose represents a surrender to evolution and change. Holding a wild lily, she embraces her femininity as something dynamic rather than fixed - complex, layered and continually evolving. The image was photographed outside an abandoned monastery in the small Portuguese village of Santo Isidoro. I was drawn to the cascading palm trees, which naturally framed Thais and created a sense of depth around her. I used the afternoon sunlight from the west, positioning her where the light filtered through the trees. The spotlight effect was created during post-production, enhancing the contrast between light and shadow and reinforcing the central concept of the image.
