Description
Photographed from Landing Forty Two in the City of London, looking across towards 8 Bishopsgate shortly before an event I was covering began. As the sun dropped over London, a small group happened to be touring an otherwise empty floor inside 8 Bishopsgate, their silhouettes briefly illuminated against the warm light and reflected across the glass. What first caught my attention was the contrast between the scale of the city and the tiny figures suspended high above it. Looking more closely, another person can be seen in shadow in the nearer window on the right-hand side of the frame, standing alone and looking out over London. That quieter figure added another layer to the scene and made the image feel less like a conventional cityscape and more like a collection of separate human moments contained within the architecture.
