'Snow Cornices on Blencathra' - Stephan Brzozowski - In Support of The Wildlife Trusts
"I took this image on the summit of Blencathra in the Lake District. Following heavy overnight snowfall down to valley level, conditions improved during the day and visibility became excellent. The pristine texture of the snow cornices caught my eye, as did the precipitous drop below. Careful probing for solid ground with a trekking pole was needed! My aim was to contrast the pale blue tones and texture of the cold snow on the tops with the soft warm light falling on the A66 trunk road and St Johns in The Vale beyond. 'The Cuillin on Skye' - Neil Coffey - In Support of Sense
I’ve had the privilege to witness this extraordinary view on many occasions, each engraving a unique memory in my mind. On this cloudy summer’s day I wanted to create some drama and connect the land to the sea. To add the desired movement I used a 6-stop filter for the necessary shutter speed. I find the panoramic format perfect for this scene as it follows the profile of the mountains, while drawing the viewer into the frame. My aim is to make the viewer feel part of the landscape.
